FYM PREVIEW: FREE ENERGY LIVE IN SEATTLE

Free Energy play The Crocodile this Thursday November 11th in Seattle Washington USA. The band ran into some recent good fortune, announcing they will be serving as opening act for Weezer during their Memories tour! For more info on those dates click HERE.

If you haven’t heard Free Energy, check out their DFA debut, Stuck on Nothing. The buzzy self-titled track Free Energy, creates a kinetic force of vintage spirit.

Free Energy will play the second leg of this tour minus Foxy Shazam. Lead singer Eric Nally, stated on on his band’s facebook, “I recently poked my eye out in the U.K. section of this tour, I had to go to the hospital, I can’t see out of my right eye it really sucks, and it’s really scary for me.”

We hope wild-man Nally gets better soon! But forYoungModerns are still stoked for this Thursday! So charge up, and come down to The Crocodile 11.11.10 in Seattle Washington USA. This may be one of the last chances for Free Energy fans to see the band play in such an intimate venue!

Cheers,

FYM.

FYM ON THE LIST: FREE ENERGY, HOLLERADO, LIVE IN SEATTLE ROCK CITY

Bouncy duel Thin-Lizzy guitar riffs, mixed with the effervescence of a 70’s video arcade, Free Energy fired away on the loose Seattle scene.

Their music is a rare-breed of fist-pumping schools out for summer glorification. They are timely thoughtful scholars of vintage sound, bringing some much needed buoyancy to this drizzly grey town.

Leader of the pack, Paul Sprangers is the embodiment of what an irreproachable frontman should be. Something we haven’t seen by a lead since witnessing Willie Nelson’s crowd working skills. Sprangers continually pointed out audience members, making superior connections with the crowd. He even handed this art director the microphone (awesome) to help finish out a tune.

Free Energy pumped out every jam possible off their indisputable classic Stuck on Nothing. They brought the party to Seattle on this evening, with mounds of confetti, and guest appearances with tour-mates Hollerado.

We left their set inexplicably stunned with good vibes and smiles on our faces.

But let us not forget the openers Hollerado, who truly matched if not bettered Free Energy’s performance.

Canada seems to be unstoppable in the export of amazing rock n’ roll bands. Hollerado’s Nixon and Menno battled each other in an awesome display of rock perfection.

The lead singer even found a way around the no alcohol on-stage rule in Seattle, by building a massive straw, and drinking out of fans cups!

Free Energy and Hollerado together, were a rare look at bands on tour actually enjoying themselves (not just a day job), bringing live music back to focus, with true fan interaction and endless entertainment.

Hollerado’s drummer (pictured above on the right, singing back-up vocals for Free Energy) has to be called out for his intense sense of timing, and truly masterful skills at his craft. And the same can be said for Free Energy’s rhythm section.

These dudes played their hearts out and produced an unforgettable evening for our crew. After seeing these two bands together, one wonders how insane it would have been seeing the original tour line-up with Foxy Shazam (who canceled this leg of the tour due to the lead singers eye being poked out).

Regardless, the evening was magical (and so was the venue). We leave you with a few bonus photos (taken by J Codling), because the party was too good not to show everything!

Cheers, FYM.

FYM PREVIEW: FREE ENERGY LIVE AT THE CROCODILE 1.25.11, W/ THE POSTELLES

It’s no secret we DIG Free Energy. The seemingly endless tour support for Stuck On Nothing (DFA Records Debut) yet again, brings them back to Seattle tomorrow evening at The Crocodile.

(Photo above from our last live journey with Free Energy)

Free Energy are doing something special (they have fun, and entertain their audience)… With peerless vintage rockers, fan interaction, and a ‘play like we actually enjoy what we are doing’ attitude, Free Energy are a must see live!

For FYM, Free Energy has become the quintessential American rock n’ roll band. We have been fans since Hockey Night (this Art Director even photographed their daytrotter session from waaay back in the day click here) After a series of December dates in support of Weezer (on their Memories tour). The sonic champs from Philly are coming to Seattle again, this time with The Postelles. Check out what both of these bands are all about below:

We look forward to the inevitable party, taking place tomorrow evening. and hope to see you all at The Crocodile (8pm). Buy tickets Here!

Cheers,

FYM

FYM PREVIEW: YACHT • LIVE IN SEATTLE • AT THE CROCODILE TONIGHT! 2.8.2012

Tonight, at the famous Crocodile, the forYoungModerns Seattle crew will be hanging out dance party style with YACHT (Young Americans Challenging High Technology) tearing it up on stage, along with Secret Shoppers, and Bobby Birdman.

Though we’ve always appreciated the formidable duo’s electro, digi-pop dance hits, we really fell in LOVE with them, (specifically leading lady Claire L. Evans) when YACHT dominated at 2011’s Bumbershoot festival in Seattle. (Pictured Below)

Their ‘we just want to have a good time’ attitude and thrilling stage presence make them a must-see for any young modern looking to hang out and let loose tonight. Show starts at 8:00, $15 at the door…Be sure to bring your dancing shoes. Cheers, FYM
